This is a small project I did for the department for kids and youngsters at the library of Silkeborg. They were interested in some sketches and planning proposals for the physical space. I suggested that if we made a dynamic interactive 3D model everyone could participate in the planning process - even the kids who are the common users of the space.

I made a rough 3D model of the B&U department and modelled a range of different book shelves, tables, chairs and so on. These are assembled in a vrml file and attached to nodes that enable objects to be dragged around. In this way one can test a wide variety of solutions and at the same time investigate the spatial consequences of the design.

Because the budget was kind of small I have not placed a huge effort in the visual appearance however this can be made very nice - see e.g. 3D sitemap or breakfast table. Some rendered examples can be seen in the thumbs to the right.

The model can be seen and used either in a small frame edition or as a blank - make sure you have a vrml client installed on your system - http://www.parallelgraphics.com. Hopefully I will be able to use a similar setup for later projects - e.g. the SKUB school project that kollision has just entered in january 2005.
