This is a graphical project I started on when playing around with the morpher modifier in 3dStudioMax. It is usually used for morphing facial expressions in a continious animation, however, I worked with objects of different topology which requires another approach. I modelled 18 different 3D models with exact 144 polygons why each id of the polygons can morph from one position in one 3D model to another position in another 3D model. It is a pretty time consuming process but a nice result.

The linear animation was used as a dynamic logo for the center for interactivespaces where I did my phd. The idea with the morphing objects was to show the different scales we were working in as well as the dynamic nature of objects with embedded technology.

The animation is rendered into .swf and played back as vector graphics through the flash player. See the animated logo and use the mouse to control speed and direction in swf here

To add further interaction and randomness I rendered all possible morph sequences into around 300 .swf's and scripted some dynamic loading in flash, resulting in a non-linear morphing animation. See the flash animation in swf here
