Block is an augmented reality project made for innovationlab. Block is a 3D augmented reality workspace for constructing simple spatial configurations.
The basic concept is to combine properties of the physical and digital world to create a new way of constructing and modelling e.g. architecture projects.

By using four different pads that are recognized and tracked by a web camera, the user can pick virtual objects from a library and attach these to a model in the center of the workspace.
Colors can be changed by sliding the objects on top of the gradient color field on the workspace fading the object color from black over white to orange. In this setup we use very simple glut models, but more advanced vrml models could easily be implemented.

The project also deals with other more tangible ways of interacting with computer systems - in this case by using pads and combine these with spatial distributed functions e.g. for save and load of models.
