This prototype called navigation prototype was made because I got inspired by the work of my good friend and colleague jesper nielsen. At a 3 day iHome workshop with B&O in silkeborg october 2003 he presented the first version of the eMote. This reverse engineered remote control was functioning only by gestures.

I thought that such a way of interacting called for another interface that acknowledged the new paradigm. I therefor made a 3D interface running in director - that ideally should be controlled be the eMote. All manipulations on the interface were thought through the use of gestures that jesper could detect with the eMote. Unfortunately we never got it hooked up at that time.

As a further vision of the director interface I made a video prototype suggesting the interface augmented in a living room environment - watch the video here (14mb).

Instead of interacting with gestures I hooked the interface up to a set of speech commands by using a speech server developed by thomas riisgaard hansen. It workes quite well even though you can see on the video that a few commands are lost due to noise in my laptop microphone - see the video here (8.5mb).

The navigation prototype inspired me further to do my 3D sitemap which is a more advanced occurrence of this prototype.
